I was discussing rap music with a kid at work who couldn’t be old enough to buy his own cigarettes, and I realized that I’m hella old. Hip-hop is overrun with skinny jeans and snapback wearing hipster kids who think that “College Dropout” is old-school, and I can’t talk hip-hop with them without wanting to punch them in the throat. Which is why I appreciate Combat Jack and his crew. This isn’t some clearchannel fuck shit where they play 7 drake songs and 2 songs featuring drake every hour, and every segment focuses on what rapper is smashing what video slore. #Newmanati is repping for the 30 year old demographic, and I applaud them for that. Check the most recent installment featuring DJ Premiere. Oh and some new guy named Justin is apparently on board now.
Tonight. The Combat Jack Show featuring Dallas Penn welcomed its newest member to the team, the Megatron Don, Just Blaze. Also we had special guest on deck, the legendary DJ Premier. Your favorite producer interviewing your favorite producer. Bun B and Freddie Foxx called in to congratulate Just and ask some questions of their own. It don’t ever stop.
